Master List of Pictures

I have a lot of great photographs, but when it comes to FINDING them I don't have a great organizational method. So I'll try listing them here along with link information so that in the future maybe I can find my best images.

Tess - 20110116

This picture and the next are a bit of reinvention. In 2011 I was still wrapping up my undergraduate degree when I was invited to a party with a bunch of people from the Twin Cities arts and performance community. I don't even recall how I got invited. And this was the first time that I presented myself as a photographer. It was just a party, so it's not like I had to worry about the quality of the images I was producing, but I still felt anxious. After decades as "computer guy" and "dad," "photographer" was a new identity in the arts.

I learned a lot from this shoot however. I learned about light, about cropping images, about shooting upwards. This picture was part of an otherwise-useless crowd shot, and while it's not a terrific picture, it's a nice picture of a lovely woman, with interesting if underexposed light.

This picture is from the same party. This version has been extensively processed to get rid of crap in the background, and I may actually do more.

It doesn't hurt the photo that the subject is extremely photogenic. But the fancy dress, the green in the glass contrasting with her red hair, the mischievous expression, all combine to a really good image.

Lisa - 20110910

This was my earliest attempt at photomontage. Lisa was a dear friend, and when she was diagnosed with cancer we did a photoshoot to produce images to bolster her resolve. I used GIMP and put tons of time into these images.

Unfortunately we lost Lisa anyway.
